So after two weeks of being on Pinterest I see that it's really great for SEO, and it's also really great for people that want to get married, or are getting married, and want to loose weight, or are loosing weight, or all have the same sense of humor, or are trying to get the same sense of humor. Yeah, it's really a nice view of how alike the world is. Lovely. But now I found someone who really stands out from the crowd. Mr. Craig Ellis.

He has a picture of some Simpson as a profile picture and in

his bio it says he likes, amongst other things, coffee, curry and all things apple. Ok great. Who doesn't. Mr. Ellis also thinks everybody likes his photography. And his wife. On the one board he has called 'glamour pictures', with the subtitle 'Glamour/Modelling photos, with thanks to my wife for being the guinea pig/model' he puts pictures up like this. (Are you ready?)

I do not dare to put the other ones on my blog. Really. And he keeps adding new pictures of his guinea pig. Keep your guinea pig to yourself. This is the decline of Pinterest, I'm sure.

Since I finally bought a new remote (it came with the new TV, I didn't actually buy a remote) I suddenly watch a lot more different tvchannels. So just before I thought about going to sleep I came across a lovely Belgium channel (no commercial breaks) which aired a documentary about Irish guys that fight. Yeahhh (fightfightfight). Also engaging is the accent of the men. It's similar to the way I slur my words when I'm drunk and speak English. Lovit.

This is going to be a very girly post, about shoes. The next picture will be a picture of a somewhat naked woman, I promiss.

When I was in Thailand last year, one of my new found friends took me to a side street where this guy was selling hand made shoes. I wanted them, I loved them, but with my european sized feet, there's no way I could fit in them.

And the ones I did fit in where green. And I don't like green (associations are hulk, slime, dirty pond).

But I saw them in Utrecht, two weeks ago. In Amsterdam today. Ahka Boots.

I really hope the guy that made them in Thailand is making big bucks out of this trend. As long as he doesn't sell them in green here.

I just threw my old pillows out, the ones that were on my couch. They belonged to my twinsister. She's cool.

Anyway. I like my room/house/studio, but the pillows don't suit the new path I intent to follow. Think candles, a classy marrocan-ish silver lamp, a lot of flowers (see a previous post, iow - not gonna happen), and a bit of design. If I can afford it.

Starting with new pillows. So I found Frank Willems site, and thought 'yes'. And I rarely think 'yes'.

His pillows are awesome (the cricket one, not the lame ones), and so are definitely worth the 20,-.

flower not the be given to me, because although I adore flowers, they will most definitely die a quick death in my presence. They're just not for me. A cactus, that I can handle.

Real rose-related memory: an ex boyfriend kept the flowers I bought for him (I was 16, I thought guys liked roses too) for about 9 months after we broke up. As some kind of cold hearted memory or maybe even a horrible metaphor of how our love had died away.

Luckily now I found someone who seems to have the same idea with these plants. Her name is Julia Schauenburg, and she bought herself flowers every week, to take pictures of their last moments before the bin:

When I was about 16 I saw a movie that haunted me for two years. Little hints: golfballs, kicking/killing a dog, borrowing eggs. Yeah? No? Funny games!

An Austrian movie in 1997, a remake (American of course) in 2007. Not the biggest fan of remakes, but they kept the eerie feeling and the golf clubs, so you can't really go wrong.

There is one thing that I like better in the remake, and not a little better but a lot. His name is Michael Pitt and although I'm not really feeling blonde guys I want to marry this one.

One of my best friends will defend his PhD thesis this tuesday. I am going to be his paranymph, together with a friend of his. I've been looking for dresses for two weeks and finally my mom found one. It's very formal, but throw some heels on and an additional belt and it's ok. As I blogged before, it makes me smile to see how a symbiotic relationship between fashion and other artforms is formed. In this case Palladium, the brand that makes the shoes you wanted in primary school, colabs with Pharrell. I like how the 'lls match.

The videos, under the name Tokyo Rising, are consisting of cool, but what do you expect when filming in one of Asias most exciting countries, Japan. Trippple Nippples band member and show, bone bracelets, stunning outfits and a increasing awareness of the impact of '3/11'. Yes, the 11th of March, when a earthquake with a magnitude of 8.9 hit Japan and caused a tsunami to go with it. Interesting to see how youngsters look back on this event. Pay special attention in part three. I wish I had the knowledge of some private bar. And this tiny little annoyance when I want to walk into a building first.

Yes, it probably wasn't what Shakespear meant, and certainly not what he wrote. But for Paul Alexander Thornton work, it certainly is true. His amazing drawing skills, combined with an incredible eye for detail make his work mindblowing. With a preference for skulss, roses and some swallows, he combines the lovely and the evil in this world. All combined, it blows your skull. Uh..mind.

As a Dutch girl, thinking about fashion illustrations, my knowledge of this field kind of ends at Piet Paris. But those Scandinavians really kick ass. In this case lovely Finnish Laura Laine, who's illustrations remind me of the flowing style of Gustav Klimts pen drawings. They are gorgeous.

Ok, I am ashamed and I will say it straight away. I stole this title. It's a great article (if you're still in college I bet you can read it for free).

There are better movies, but there is one great quote in 'the devil wears Prada' I wish I could have used for my own thesis. Read and learn;

'You think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select.. I don't know.. that lumpy blue sweater for instance, because you are trying to tell the world that you are taking yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and it's sort of comical how you think you made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you are wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room from a pile of stuff.'

Sometimes pictures remind you of the thing that could have been. Sometimes pictures are like memories you lost, or that you would like to have had. Kristine Potters serie Laws of Nature has that effect.

In her series it seems she wants us to see how at ease people can be in their own environment, by themselves. It seems like they are in the midst of things, while forgetting where they are and what they are doing. Perfect pictures to fall asleep by, in the most postive sense I can think of.

To contradict Schumer's Bill (which now lawfully claims copyright on fashion), as mentioned a few posts earlier, the European Union brought out a report which declares that buying designer goods can benefit conusmers as well as companies. Who's brands are not getting ripped off.

Technology stands for nothing, now that Nike has patented a self lacing shoe. Yes, very like Marty McFly’s kicks in Back to the Future 2. According to the patent, “the automatic lacing system provides a set of straps that can be automatically opened and closed to switch between a loosened and tightened position.” You can power the on-board battery with a USB port. So if this works out well, the hoover board might be right around the future corner.

All I ever owned by mr. Jacobs is a bracelet, and I am not very content with the quality of this piece of jewellery. I hope this accident stands alone, because I am in love with his back to school line called Book Marc. So funny.

He designed a box for pencils, the nicest tin for your stuff and some other things you never new you needed with someones name on it. Look the supplies up on his website (under Special Items) or go and buy the very affordable bureau needabilities at all Marc by Marc Jacobs stores.

Everyone scribbles a little every once in a while. During a boring phone call the best you can do is make funny little drawings on post-it notes. Especially fun when you are good at it. And John Kenn (Denmark, 1974) possesses this talent. With his monsters, mixing the Tim Burton style together with Maurice Sendaks where the wild things are, he decorates the yellow little notes. As he calls it himself, a little window into a different world, made on office supplies.

Something old (from the previous bills):
Short, 3-year term of protection.
Structure. It's an amendment to chapter 13 of the Copyright Act, which currently applies only to vessel hulls.
High standard to qualify for protection, amounting to originality plus novelty. New and unique designs will qualify for protection, while everything else remains in the public domain.
Independent creation defense. As in copyright, it's theoretically possible for creative lightning to strike twice, without triggering liability.

Something new:
No registration, period. This eliminates a previous hurdle, goes one step beyond copyright, and benefits emerging designers, my greatest personal concern over the past 5 years.
Heightened pleading standards to discourage litigation, a.k.a. pleading with particularity.
Home sewing exception. This expands the fair use-style provisions already in this chapter of the Copyright Act -- and means that the fashion police can't raid crafters' closets looking for illegal downloads dresses.

Something borrowed:
Substantially identical standard for infringement, largely borrowed from trademark.
Probably the most publicly debated issue, and a compromise dating back to the initial hearing on the DPPA when I proposed a narrower "closely and substantially similar" as an opening gambit and a ranking member of the committee floated "virtually identical" as an alternative. There have been many iterations since, resulting in this compromise.

Something blue:
Initial mood -- which is probably what a true compromise should engender. But nothing that another century of lobbying from fashion designers couldn't fix! In the end, this bill addresses the needs of emerging designers, offers recognition and protection to all creative fashion designers, brings the U.S. in line with IP law in other fashion design-producing countries, closes a legal loophole related to counterfeiting, and will force former copyists to actually design clothing or at least sign licensing agreements -- meaning more jobs for designers and more affordable choices for consumers. Not bad for half a decade's work.

Notes on lampposts and bus stops, saying 'have you seen our cat' are quite common. It's a sad sad thing that Pookie ran away, but there's not much you can do about it. Except for the terrible xeroxed pictures, nice with a black or white cat, and mostly sad. How different are Todd Lambs notes from Chris.

The notes can be found in NYC, where the big apple seems to make a very alienated person out of Chris. Who wants to help a stranger out who fears he has red eye (won't shake your hand, promiss), or go to a library to convince the librarian that the books weren't overdue. Than be at that fence at 3. Bring some candy.

Often I try to speak French, but today I actually had a reason. To the day it is 110 years ago the writer and poet Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was born. You do, of course, know him of being the author of Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince). An amazing children's book with a deeper layer of thought. Sentences likes “Vous êtes belles, mais vous êtes vides.... On ne peut pas mourir pour vous” (you are beautiful, but you are empty… No one could die for you) are characteristic for the feeling of the book.

A tragic accident at the end of his life makes him most memorable. While exploring as part of the allies before the invasion in the south of France at the end of Juli 1944, he, and his plane, disappears. On April 7th of 2004 pieces of wreckage were found before the coast of Marseille, which officially showed he crashed there.
